27 February 2026
Dear Parents
Please sign up for Q2 and Q3 co curriculars. All sign-ups must be in by Wednesday, 11th March.
Please note that Junior Chefs and Design Society require a quarterly sign-up.
Our Grade 2 and 3 Orchestra have been working on a new song. Get ready! It's a toe-tapping one.
ACADEMICS
Throughout the quarter, our Junior Prep learners continue with their formal and informal assessments. These are carefully integrated into the school day, ensuring your child feels supported and comfortable in their familiar classroom environment.
For a learner to successfully progress to the next grade, the Department of Education requires the following averages throughout the year:
Home Language: English - Code 4
Mathematics - Code 3
First Additional Language: Afrikaans/isiXhosa - Code 3
Regular attendance is equally important for academic growth. As per Department guidelines, a medical certificate is required for any absence of two days or more.
REPORT FEEDBACK MEETINGS
Reports will be released on Monday, 23 March, and we’ve set aside 23 – 25 March for our report feedback meetings. This is a wonderful opportunity to sit down together, celebrate your child’s strengths, and look at how we can support their continued growth. We encourage you to book a slot via the Google Calendar links provided by your child’s teacher. Appointments are usually 15 mins in length. We greatly value our parents’ and teachers’ time and urge parents to be on time in order to ensure that other parents are not kept waiting.
Please contact your child’s class teacher directly should you be unavailable to meet on the specific days and times scheduled.
Parents are encouraged to download the Ed-admin Multi Portal App. This platform will be used to send important notifications and updates, and it will also provide access to children’s reports when they are released.

LIBRARY NEWS
I've Been Reading to My Pet - Now What Comes Next?
We have come to the end of our pet theme and want to thank everyone who participated in sharing the most beautiful photos of reading to your pets. These photos are displayed in the library and are much enjoyed, debated and admired.
The Grade ones ended off the pets theme this week with listening to There is a Snake in my School, the hilarious book by David Walliams. They loved the story about the children who brought their pets to school, a cruel headmistress and a surprising pet python. Their facial expressions were priceless!
On Monday, 2 March, it is Dr. Seuss Day, when we will celebrate the birthday of the iconic author Theodor Geisel, known as Dr. Seuss. We are all looking forward to having fun with his wacky characters and delightful rhyming stories over the next few weeks.
Birthday Books
Daniel turned 7 this week and visited the library with a delightful Birthday Book titled Sarbie, the Centipede. Imagine walking around in this summer’s heat and having blisters on so many feet? Aaron also celebrated his birthday this week and donated a beautiful story about a mother’s love, titled Always In My Heart. We wish these boys a very happy birthday!
Request
Many years ago we invested in the Billie B. Brown book series that came to us from Australia. The stories are great, the font friendly and large and these books play an important part in easing our readers into their first adventures in chapter books. Later we met Billie’s best friend, Jack, and added the Jack series to our collection.
Sadly, we have now reached the stage where these books are not available anywhere anymore. Occasionally, we find one or two at a second-hand shop. Our books are still in constant use, but some of our copies are looking tired and we are unable to replace them. We want to ask that, if you have any of these at home that you are not using anymore, if you would consider donating them to the library, where they will be welcomed and treasured.
Thank you for your support of our libraries.
We’re teaming up with Fallen Angels to support animals in need by collecting cat and dog food. Every bag or tin of food donated shows how small actions can make a big impact.
Let’s keep the momentum going and prove that when learners work together, we can create real change — one paw at a time. 🐶🐱💙
