Junior Preparatory Weekly Memo
30 September 2024
Dear Parents
We hope all our families have had a good holiday and are ready to return to school for a jam-packed quarter.
The North and South Festival was a wonderful event and we would like to thank Coaches Jared, Liam and Nadine as well as our external coaches and team managers for all their effort and assistance. Our learners had lots of fun and as always, we are very proud of them and how far they have come since the start of the season.
Our last assembly of the quarter was a great celebration as some of our learners received Derby Day Sports certificates and the Junior Preparatory choir received cultural certificates for the Virtual Eisteddfod. Congratulations and Well done!
Luke and Bailey from the Junior Preparatory along with Haydn and Jakeem from the Senior Preparatory, received the Growing Minds Trophy for being Responsible Citizens. Well done, we are very proud of you.
We would like to thank all our families for supporting the SPCA last quarter. The learners looked fabulous dressed up as animals and we know that the SPCA will be very grateful for the donations collected for this special day.
SPECIAL PERSON'S DAY
Thank you to all our VIPs who attended Special Person's day. It was a real treat! Thank you to our Culture Department for their wonderful work with our learners, they were absolutely fabulous.

COMMUNICATION
The weekly memo which is sent out on a Friday, is our main form of communication and includes important information regarding the College. Please note that the blog format has changed this quarter and we hope that information will be more accessible and easy to find.
The following tabs are available and this page, which is the main page, will include the most current information:
Curriculum and Learning
Clothing and Uniform
Staffing (All staff and their contact details)
General (school times, aftercare, drop-off, security, lunch/snacks, Houses, P&L Directory, transport, medication, devices)
UNIFORM
Summer Uniform
We switch over to the summer uniform from the first day back which is Wednesday 2 October.
Blazers
In order to affirm our unique image, the College blazer from Grade 1-12 has changed. Parents will have until the start of the Academic Year 2026, to replace the existing light blue blazer with the new royal blue, striped blazer. This fabric is unique to our College and therefore, distinguishes our learners from other schools who are wearing the same colour as our current blazer.
All new Grade Ones and learners joining the College are required to wear the striped blazer.
Parents are reminded that our blazers are an important part of the uniform which sets us apart from other schools. We therefore request that parents be particular about the condition of a blazer and if it is either faded or too small, it must be replaced.
SPORT AND CO-CURRICULARS
Swimming Trials for Grade 3
Friday, 4 October during sports hour (13:30-14:30)

CULTURE
DESIGNS FOR DELEGATES
In the second quarter, learners painted artworks for a sketchbook cover design inspired by the Cape Floristic Region’s flora and fauna. Some of these covers were selected to be printed on gifting for the ISASA Deputy Heads’ Conference which we hosted during the holidays.
Tapiwa, Luhle (Grade 1) Milka (Grade 2) and Anna-Marie (Grade 3) had their designs chosen and 200 guests received among other items, a note pad with their artwork on it .
Aren't these absolutely stunning! We are so proud of you and your wonderful creativity!
