DERBY DAY RUGBY

Our U8 rugby boys played very well at Derby Day against Somerset West. For some players it was their very first match ever and we are very proud of them. We lost the first game 4-7 and the second game 0-12 but we are very pleased that the boys experienced the excitement of the day and were able to be part of the Derby Day fun. Well done to all the U8 boys for playing their hearts out!

Our U9 support crew braved the bitter cold and cheered on the sidelines against a tough Somerset College rugby match during Derby Day. Well done to all our U9 rugby boys who left their hearts on the field and pushed back at every opportunity. Somerset won 7-4. Special mention to Milani, Xander and Miyolo who stepped in to play with the U9's - well done!

The U9 netball girls played extremely well and fought hard until the end. The score in our first game was 7-4  to Somerset College and in our second game 12-0 to Somerset College. LIBRARY NEWS

AUTHOR EVENT
Sandi, Brownie and Lucy are living the dream. Together with their humans, they have been on some fabulous adventures, including having gone to sea over one hundred times. They have fascinating stories to share about the creatures of False Bay, while introducing children to the importance of healthy ecosystems on Earth.

On Wednesday we are delighted to invite our Grade 1 - 4 learners to share in their adventures as we welcome Monique Fallows, the author of the new children’s book titled Sandi and the Salty Sea Dogs, to our school.   We shall also meet one of her intrepid sea dogs. Monique and her husband work in ecotourism and the dogs share life on their boat.

This is a beautiful book which introduces the reader to creatures like the African Penguin, Cape Gannet, Bryde’s Whale and Brown Skua. There are QR codes with video links throughout the book so that you can see the animals you are reading about in action. We guarantee that this will be entertaining bedtime reading for parents too!

As an added treat, we have arranged with Bargain Books to have the books for sale on Wednesday, so that the children can have their copies signed by the author. Please send R200 in a marked envelope if you would like to make use of this opportunity.

BIRTHDAY BOOKS

There is a heartwarming Parklands tradition that on our birthdays we share a gift with our friends by donating a book to the library.

The Grade 6 Library Monitors are capably leading the introduction of Birthday Books during the weekly assemblies. This week Anna had the unique opportunity of presenting her own Birthday Books to the audience. Well done, Anna, for leading by example. We are also saying happy birthday to Juniour and Anna (both in Grade 3).  They can look forward to their moment on stage on Monday!
